nike promotional poster

branding

This project challenged me to create a poster for Nike using only typography—without incorporating any illustrations, photos, or external graphics. The limitations of working solely with type pushed me to think creatively about how to convey both energy and meaning through letterforms alone.

I began by brainstorming a tagline that could capture Nike’s core ethos of motivation and limitless potential. That’s when I landed on the phrase “The possibilities are endless.” This idea became the conceptual backbone of the piece, emphasizing Nike’s belief in breaking boundaries and continually pushing forward.

To visually reinforce the concept of “endlessness,” I designed a looped, circular composition out of Nike’s iconic phrase “Just Do It.” By warping the text into a continuous, spiral-like shape, I aimed to symbolize both infinite possibilities and the momentum of movement—qualities that align closely with Nike’s brand identity. The loop also draws the viewer’s eye around the page, creating a sense of dynamic flow and energy.

I chose a bold, bright purple for the “Just Do It” text to ensure it stood out prominently against the dark background, while using a cyan highlight for the tagline to emphasize its message. Behind these elements, I layered a repeating pattern of the phrase “The possibilities are endless” in a muted teal, creating depth and texture without overpowering the main focal points. The iconic Nike swoosh, rendered in cyan, subtly anchors the composition in the lower right corner, reinforcing brand recognition without disrupting the typography-focused design.

Throughout the process, my goal was to create a poster that felt bold, kinetic, and unmistakably Nike—capturing both the brand’s essence and the feeling of unstoppable forward motion. This project taught me how to leverage typography as both form and function, using type as a graphic element to communicate movement, hierarchy, and emotion within a visually constrained framework.
